Designed to be installed as a retrofit on continuous folder-gluers, the SM3001 automatic stitching machine delivers reliability and precision.
The SM3001 is an automatic stitching machine developed by SMD, Stitching Machine Development, for stitching corrugated board boxes.
It is designed for corrugated board manufacturers and converters looking for a reliable, high-performance solution suited to continuous industrial production.
Integrated as part of a retrofit project on a continuous folder-gluer, the SM3001 makes it possible to modernize an existing installation and improve stitching performance without replacing the entire line.
With this machine, SMD puts more than 40 years of expertise in stitching at the service of one clear objective: enabling manufacturers to produce with greater consistency, reduced maintenance constraints and better control over their assembly operations.

The SM3001 meets the needs of corrugated board manufacturers and converters who require consistent, precise and continuous production. Its design makes it possible to handle large formats, with a transfer speed suited to industrial production lines.
The option of retrofitting the unit onto a continuous folder-gluer makes it possible to modernize an existing installation without replacing the entire production line. SMD supports manufacturers across the mechanical, electronic and automation aspects of the project.
Thanks to its grease-free MASE1500 module, the SM3001 reduces maintenance operations and eliminates the risk of marking the boxes. This directly improves product quality and machine availability.
The oscillating head, SEW brushless motorization, upstream/downstream realignment and micrometric XYZ adjustment ensure precise stitching positioning.
With SMD, every project begins with a detailed analysis of your production environment.
Before recommending a solution, our teams take the time to discuss your objectives, understand your requirements and, where necessary, visit your facility to assess your on-site constraints.
This first step makes it possible to identify the real challenges: productivity improvement, integration into an existing line, available resources, mechanical constraints, automation or maintenance requirements. Based on these elements, SMD studies the technical feasibility of the project and guides you towards the solution best suited to your needs.
Once the proposal has been approved, production of your machine begins. Each module is checked and tested in our facilities, covering both mechanical components and automation systems. This validation phase helps secure the equipment’s operation before on-site installation.
The modules are then assembled and subjected to a final series of tests. Once all checks have been validated, SMD organizes the transport of the machine to your facility.
On site, our teams handle installation, commissioning and final adjustments. They also support your operators in getting familiar with the machine, ensuring efficient and controlled use from start-up.
After installation, SMD remains available to support you over the long term. If required, remote assistance can be provided. Where on-site intervention is necessary, our teams travel to carry out after-sales service and help maintain the performance of your equipment.
